Potty Training..

Levi has been driving me crazy this last month with potty training.. He's tested my patience, peed and pooped many many times on the carpet. He can't stand being in a dirty diaper and now he has pretty much out grown the biggest size diapers they make. What do I do? HELP =)

  1. Ugh... potty training is just one of those things that was so different with each of our children. I'd say it's most important to be consistant. At first, I sware our kids had to go every 30 minutes until they got more bladder control. Maybe offer him a "reward" for going in the correct place... aka, not the floor! One thing that worked great with our boys was to put a Fruit Loop into the toilet at something to aim at... I guess it made it a little more fun for them. I don't know... hang in there... this too shall pass and before you know it he'll be all potty trained and good to go. :) Not an easy task to tackle with a new baby.

  2. Yep-definitely NOT an easy task, especially with a new baby! Hmmm... all I can say is that I wish I hadn't tried so hard with Addie... I potty trained her for about a year and a half... can you believe it!??? INSANE!!! BUT, lesson learned: she knew HOW but until she was READY AND WANTING, she didn't follow through for more than 3 days or so! I waisted a lot of time and effort!
So, with Caleb, I was determined to not initiate anything and what-do-ya know... the kid is potty trained! :) :)
Most defiantly do rewards... verbal praise, sticker chart, a treat, prize, WHATEVER WORKS FOR HIM! And maybe back off a little if you think he needs a break! He may just be converting back to 'baby stage' since he has a new baby in the house! Guess that happens a lot!
    :)
Anyway, sometimes I tell myself when I am cleaning up a very stinky diaper or an 'accident' "SOMEDAY, they will go poo and potty in the toilet all the time, every time!" And that knowledge makes it somehow much more manageable to have a happy positive attitude! ;)

  3. I know this is a little behind. Both the boys were done by 2 1/2. It worked for mine but all of the little ones are different and some mom's don't approve of my bribery lol but it worked for us. First I made sure I had four days that I did not have to go anywhere. Camden and Trey were naked for the four days straight. Then I would set a timer for every 30 minutes. We would go to the bathroom they would get an m&m, if they sat on th epotty they would get one if they peed on in the potty they would get 2. If they started to pee anywhere else , just scoop them up run to the potty clap and get them an m&m. You do have sugar crazed naked little guy running around but it worked with both my boys. Oh and I trained them with the potty seats that go over the normal toilet so I could take it with me anywhere and it would be familiar. Hope that helps.
